We call our type of training ‘Functional Training’.
Functional training targets, first and foremost, the movements (the biodynamics) of the body, and is as focussed and beneficial as the training used for élite athletes. This approach gets the small muscles that stabilise the body functioning in the way they are meant to function, with the flow-on benefits of weight loss, aerobic fitness and muscle strength. Our day-to-day life ‘detrains’ these muscles (we use fewer than half of our 420 muscles, and often the wrong ones) and, too often, as we train, we challenge only the larger muscles, like the quads. The smaller muscles must be challenged too, otherwise they ‘switch off’ and the body becomes unstable — something the not-so-young experience.
I am one VERY happy client!
